Kittrell School

The first school to educate the youth of Kittrell was started in 1850. The first school to carry the Kittrell name was built was 1889 as a one room, one teacher cedar log structure and was named after Major Marion Kittrell, a resident of the community. Fire destroyed the building in the early 1900’s, and in 1912, a new two year high school was built. Also destroyed by fire, the frame building was replaced by a brick structure in 1927 and Kitrell became a four year high school. In 1953, a wing was added for younger students. Read More
